I welcome you to the Friendship Village School. On behalf of our staff I would like to share some things about our school, which is an absolute treasure. Friendship is a small community-oriented school in Midcoast Maine. We are a Kindergarten through Grade Six School with approximately 100 students. There is one class per grade level and the class sizes range from a low of nine to a high of twenty and an average in the mid-teens. The students and staff have had academic success for the past several years and have received recognition for strong performances on the Maine Educational Assessments and we definitely meet adequate yearly progress as reported for No Child Left Behind. Our community has always shown strong pride in and support for their school. A good example is the collaborative oral history project known as Finding Friendship. A joint effort, between the school and the Friendship Museum, has the students conducting interviews with community members to learn more about a selected theme. The finished work may be found in the school and town libraries and, in part, on the school’s web page. Another example of the community support is the beautiful playground equipment that was paid for and installed through volunteer efforts a little over two years ago. We also try to make use of our surroundings and visit area points of interest and have area individuals of interest visit our school.
The Friendship Village School was originally built in 1922 with a wing added in 1987. The school remains a warm, caring place where students feel supported and challenged to do their best. Please check out our website and if you are ever in our beautiful town of Friendship, please enjoy being a welcomed guest in our school.
